Niteshift is the cloud platform for coding agents. Customers run the frontier agent they want, whether that is Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or Cursor, inside their full development environment, where the agent can develop, test, and ship software end to end.
The company is built on one belief: agents will write all of the code, and they will do it in the cloud. If that is true, the cloud environment can't be bundled with a single model or token provider. Teams need a place to run any agent against their real stack.
Our core belief is that 100% of code is going to be written by agents running in the cloud.
The challenge
Generating code is easy, verifying it is hard
When Claude Code came out in February 2025, the Niteshift team saw the bottleneck move. Generating code had become easy. The hard part was verifying that it worked, and that takes a running copy of the application: services, databases, and the rest of the stack, not just a place to execute a snippet.
The most complex dev environments
Niteshift works with some of the most demanding development environments there are. Standard Bots, a robotics company, orchestrates a dozen Docker services, including control systems, in its environment. That workload did not run in other virtualization technologies.
A preview link has to open in seconds
Niteshift wanted every dev environment to double as a preview environment. The UX problem was startup time. A developer looking at a GitHub pull request clicks "View preview", and if the environment takes a minute or two to come back up, that is far too slow. Customers also need large machines, often 32 GB of RAM or more, and they run many agents at once.
The solution
VM-based agentic infrastructure for full Docker compatibility
E2B built its agentic infrastructure on VMs by design. Along with security and isolation, the goal is to give an agent a computer that is as close to a local machine as possible. Sajid was skeptical of that choice at first, but VMs gave Niteshift the compatibility its hardest customers needed, starting with complex multi-service Docker setups like Standard Bots'.
E2B really was the pioneer in choosing VMs as the correct virtualization technology for agents.
Memory snapshots make live previews instant
VMs also made memory snapshots possible. Instead of booting an environment and starting every service again, Niteshift resumes the environment from a snapshot of its running state, so a preview comes back live within a user's patience to wait. Sajid, who started his career at Google working on networking, expected open connections to break and doubted it would work beyond simple environments. Then one of Niteshift's engineers tried it on E2B.
He came to me one day and said, 'Hey, I have it running on E2B. The Niteshift you've been using for the last day has been running on E2B memory snapshots, and it all just works.' I was genuinely surprised. I did not expect it to work out of the box.
Niteshift develops Niteshift on Niteshift, so Sajid had already been using memory snapshots for a day without noticing. That let Niteshift ship a new experience: click a link on a pull request and get a live preview in seconds rather than minutes.
Horizontal and vertical scale
Niteshift's customers need both large machines and many of them at once. E2B runs agent environments with 32 GB of RAM or more in the cloud, suspends and resumes them quickly with memory snapshots, and does it reliably enough for customers to orchestrate 100 agents at the same time.
It's reliable enough for our customers to orchestrate 100 agents at the same time and be confident that all of them will complete.
The results
- Live previews in seconds rather than minutes: pull request preview links resume from E2B memory snapshots instead of cold booting the environment
- Full Docker compatibility: multi-service environments like Standard Bots' run on E2B's VM-based agentic infrastructure
- 32 GB+ environments at scale: customers orchestrate 100 agents at the same time on large dev environments
Looking ahead
Niteshift helps teams move development to the cloud while staying on the frontier, using whatever model or agent they want. As its customers bring larger environments and more agents, E2B provides the agentic infrastructure underneath them.
